Hi, I’m Susan!
I am a former Fortune 500 communications executive and public relations faculty member at BYU in Provo and Idaho as well as the coauthor of a textbook and the creator of numerous articles and presentations. I have delivered presentations at BYU and BYU–Idaho and am a two-time BYU–Idaho Education Week presenter.
I joined the Church as a sixteen-year-old high school student in my hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BYU and my PhD from the University of North Dakota.
Now retired from teaching, I serve as the executive director of an educational nonprofit.
When my husband, Mark, passed away in 2020, I joined “The Club Nobody Wants to Belong To.” I am a cancer survivor, organ donor, mother and widow of transplant recipients, and a passionate organ donation advocate. I am also an avid traveler. As a girl, I made a list of all the places in the world I’d like to visit, and I have spent my adult life happily whittling away at that list.
I currently live in Boise, Idaho, where I serve as a Gospel Essentials teacher as well as half of a ministering couple (along with my husband) to ward singles. I am married to Dr. George Scheff. I and my late husband, Mark Walton, are the parents of three grown daughters and eight grandchildren.
